Gina has a sparkling personality and all the characteristics of a great leader. She is always striving for excellence and is enthusiastic about school. When she first arrived at the mission, she jumped right into the activities alongside the other children. During our dress-up playtime, Gina is the first to put on high heels; though she wobbled and fell, she was determined to make it across the room. Her persistence, at any task, is a great example for any adult as much as the other children.
The goal of the mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment for Haitian children who do not have one. Children are cared for medically, nutritionally, educationally and spiritually. They are taught in both French and English, with a goal of achieving at least a high school diploma. Christian prayer and guidelines are a part of their daily life, as is a sense of giving back to the mission though work and responsibility.
