S.A.Y. Detroit Volunteer Opportunities

Detroit Muscle Crew II

We are looking for skilled trades people in the following areas to help refurbish houses and tackle other physical maintenance projects as we continue our commitment of improving the lives of Detroit’s neediest citizens: Carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, masonry, roofing, painting, light work (cleaning, paint prep, etc), heavy work (demolition, heavy lifting, etc).

S.A.Y. Detroit Family Health Clinic

Healthcare institutions such as ours are extremely expensive to operate. Medical supplies and the high cost of technology pressure our meager budget yet our goal is to provide superior care with the highest degree of quality and safety.

Volunteers are vital to our mission and allow us to provide a wide variety of services and specialty clinics. The following categories of volunteers are needed: physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, clerical asssitants.

S.A.Y. Play Tutor

We are using a proven tutoring method in partnership with SOAR Detroit, and you will work one-on-one or small group sessions with students. This is a dynamic and unique opportunity to not only give back, but also create meaningful and lasting relationships with our students, and we will give you the training you need to be successful.

Volunteer with A Time to Help

A Time To Help was established in 1997 to galvanize Detroit volunteerism on a regular basis. Mitch Albom and radio co-host Ken Brown lead each monthly project. Volunteers can sign up for one, two or all projects. There are no requirements, except that, for most events, volunteers should be at least 18 years of age. Older teenagers can come if accompanied by at least one adult supervisor for every four of them.

You Can Help

Every dollar of your tax deductible gift goes directly into the daily operational needs of the causes and persons profiled here. No salaries are paid for any of the directors or board members of our charities.
